NOXON To the rescue
Over time your gimmick and specialty coins will begin to lose their luster and start to tarnish. You can bring them back to looking like new by using some Noxon metal polish on them.
Just put a small amount on a soft cloth and gently rub it on your coins. Instantly your coins will look like new again
Folding Coins – Always change your bands on your folding coins every 3 – 5 performances. This will keep the fit tight and insure your bands don’t break during a performance.

The thumb tip is the most widely used prop in magic today. It can be used to perform hundreds of magic tricks but is used mostly for producing, vanishing, and changing small objects such as Silks, Currency, and Sponge balls.
Using a Thumb tip is simple. The hard part is gaining the self confidence you need to master it. Once you are confident in using it you will find that you are not only fooling your audience but other magician’s as well.

Thumb tip FAQ’s
Proper Position
The thumb tip is designed to be worn on the end of the thumb not pushed all the way down on the finger.
Color & Size
Don’t be concerned with color. Most tips are molded and colored to resemble an actual finger and come in many sizes.
Once you have built up your own confidence in using them exact color match is not important at all. We have proven this over and over again in front of magicians at trade shows performing Silk Blendos while wearing Chrome Thumb tips on both hands.
These bright shiny tips were never noticed during the performance, not even by the keen eye of the magician’s watching the demo.
Adjusting The Tip
Most quality Thumb tips can be slightly adjusted for a better fit by placing them in boiling water and softening the plastic allowing it to be better molded to the finger.
Types
Thumb tips are manufactured both soft & Hard and come in plastic, vinyl, rubber & metal. They are all designed to do the same job and the style is strictly a preference of the performer using them.
***** Master the Thumb Tip *****
There are two key elements in mastering the use of the Thumb tip. Practice and Self Confidence. Both will be needed for you to be successful.
Self Confidence
The best way for you to become confident in using it is to “Live with it” wear it constantly all day and night. Do everything you normally do but have the Thumb tip on at all times. Soon you will be able to perform all of your daily tasks with the tip on your finger all the time. The tip will become part of your hand and you will begin to feel completely comfortable with it on. When this happens you will be ready for the next step (Practice).
Practice
Practice is the most important lesson in magic. You will have the urge to start using any trick right out of the package but you must resist. Only through practicing will you become proficient in the performance of any magic effect.
Always make slow smooth moves. Fast moves draw attention and you don’t want that.
Start off practicing in front of a mirror until you are satisfied that you have all moves mastered before performing for others.
Once you feel comfortable move on to a family member. The object is to be able to perform the routine in front of the family member without them seeing the thumb tip even though they know you are using it.
Do Not overfill the Thumb tip. Start off using small silks (6” Silks) work best in regular tips. Once you feel comfortable using a tip you can move up to a (King Size Tip) that will hold a larger load.
When using a Thumb tip keep your hands moving slowly with normal hand movements. Keeping your fingers pointed in the direction of the spectator will help conceal the tip.
Using Multiple Tips
You can use a Thumb tip on each hand to increase your ability. Using multiple tips will allow you to expand into performing multiple color changes without having to re load or go into your pockets.
Small Thumb tips can be used on other fingers to really increase your ability to dazzle your audience.
Note – If you must go into a pocket to drop off a tip or pick up another Never come out of the pocket empty handed. Keep a small magic wand or other small item in the pocket to bring out at the same time to cover your tracks.
Added Effects
Try using Thumb Tip Silk Blendo, Silk Streamers, or a Thumb Tip Change Bag to really get the action going!

Do Your Homework!
Practice, Practice, Practice
One of the most important rules in performing magic is practice. Just about everyone knows the phrase “Practice Makes Perfect” well there is a lot to be said for this in magic as well.
Every magician slips up from time to time but you reduce the risk of making those dreaded slip ups by practicing your effects over and over again until you can do them with your eyes closed.
When you purchase a new magic effect the first thing most of us want to do is show it to someone. It’s a natural thing to do but it is a big mistake.
Let’s say you just spent $50.00 for a new trick and right out of the box you start performing it and then your worst nightmare comes true. You make the big slip up and everyone in your audience sees how the trick is done. Don’t Let This Happen to You!
Resist temptation, read the instructions, and practice the effect until you have it down pat. This way you can better position yourself for many successful performances.

Working With Close-Up Mats
Whenever you are performing Close-Up magic it’s a good idea to use a good quality close-up mat. A good mat provides you with a quiet, non slip service to work on as well as a professional look.
As an added bonus you can easily have items concealed under the mat for production at a later time during your routine. We recommend using a mat that provides a large enough workspace for most close-up routines. A mat that measures about 14x18 should be fine.

Misdirection - The Magician's Best Friend
Cover Your Tracks!
Misdirection and deception are important steps in magic. From time to time you may have to go into a pocket to drop off something or pick something up.
Whenever you go into a pocket make sure you come out with something. People get very suspicious when you go into a pocket and come out with an empty hand. Try using one of these ideas during your next act.
Bring out a small magic wand, handkerchiefs or silks are also good. Some magicians place small amounts of glitter or confetti in the pocket to add to the effect. I like to keep a small magnifying glass in my pocket which you can use to add a little comedy into the routine while covering your tracks.
Remember, Never Make Fast Moves. Make sure all of your moves are well choreographed. Fast moves will always cause suspicion.
